The Astellas USA Foundation ("Foundation") is a tax-exempt, private foundation that awards cash grants to support philanthropic initiatives that are aligned with Astellas' business strategy.

The Foundation's principal areas of interest are:

• Global initiatives designed to improve the quality of life and medical care of patients
• Basic scientific research in areas of future therapeutic interest to Astellas
• Civic and community organizations that focus on local needs, located in areas where Astellas, Inc. has offices (Northbrook, Illinois; Santa Monica, California; Research Triangle Park, North Carolina, etc.)

It is the long-term goal of the Foundation to provide support for programs and activities that contribute to the overall well-being of the general public.
