INVESTING IN OUR COUNTRY'S FUTURE WITH WEST POINT ASSOCIATION OF GRADUATES.

With economically disadvantaged and ethnically diverse populations largely underrepresented in science, technology, engineering and math (STEM)-related careers, West Point recognizes the need to fill this resource gap. By fostering interest in STEM through hands-on learning experiences at an early age, our partnership with West Point Association of Graduates aims to inspire the next generation of leaders, while diversifying the field to reflect the dynamics of the 21st century.

Key programming like mobile STEM Workshops give middle and high school students the opportunity to engage in collaborative learning activities. Taught by West Point faculty volunteers and cadet mentors, students can envision what life would be like in college studying STEM-related concepts, while engaging in cutting-edge curriculum like Lego Mindstorm® Robotics, VEX IQ Robotics, Bridge Design, Cryptography and Drones. The workshops also help West Point cadets gain valuable mentoring and STEM leadership experience.

Since 2012, more than 85 workshops have been held in 32 major and rural U.S. cities and have seen a 175 percent increase in the number of students impacted by the Center's mission. There were 1,312 participants this past year, and for the first time, female students comprised the majority (53 percent).

As our nation's challenges grow more complex, inspiring a diverse pool of scientists, mathematicians and engineers equipped to solve them is becoming increasingly crucial. We're confident our partnership with West Point Association of Graduates will address our most pressing STEM needs and inspire our future leaders for years to come.
